ACCC Preview: Findings From Influencer Sweep

  • level 6, 127 York Street Sydney, NSW, 2000 Australia (map)

Please join us as the ACCC presents a preview of the findings from their internet sweep targeting influencers, delivered exclusively for AANA and AiMCO members.

The sweep sought to identify misleading testimonials and endorsements by social media influencers on a range of social media platforms and sectors, including fashion, beauty and cosmetics, food and beverage, travel, health fitness and wellbeing, parenting, gaming and technology.

Although the sweep focused on influencers, the ACCC is also considering the part that advertisers, marketers, brands and social media platforms play in facilitating misconduct.

ACCC's Emily Short, Assistant Director for Consumer & Fair Trading Coordination & Strategy and Executive Director for the Consumer Fair Trading Division, Nick Heys, will give you an overview of the key issues identified in the sweep, what issues are causing the most concern and what comes next.

This event will be hosted by AANA's Megan McEwin and Tegan Boorman, Deputy Chair at AiMCO. Participants will have plenty of opportunities for questions at the end of the session.
