April 13, 2023 ACCC Preview: Findings From Influencer Sweep Webinar
The sweep sought to identify misleading testimonials and endorsements by social media influencers on a range of social media platforms and sectors, including fashion, beauty and cosmetics, food and beverage, travel, health fitness and wellbeing, parenting, gaming and technology.
Although the sweep focused on influencers, the ACCC is also considering the part that advertisers, marketers, brands and social media platforms play in facilitating misconduct.
ACCC's Emily Short, Assistant Director for Consumer & Fair Trading Coordination & Strategy and Executive Director for the Consumer Fair Trading Division, Nick Heys, will give you an overview of the key issues identified in the sweep, what issues are causing the most concern and what comes next.
This event is hosted by AANA's Megan McEwin and Tegan Boorman, Deputy Chair at AiMCO.
Discussion Panel:
Tegan Boorman, Founder of Social Law Co & Deputy Chair at AiMCO
Megan McEwin, Director of Policy & Regulatory Affairs, AANA
Emily Short, Assistant Director Consumer & Fair Trading Coordination & Strategy, ACCC
Nick Heys, Executive Director Consumer & Fair Trading Division, ACCC
